Welcome to Greenbrier 3rd Grade
Welcome to Third Grade, where we will discover new knowledge all year.
Here in Third Grade, you will learn multiplication and division in math! It is so fun to learn something new for the first time. We will also learn about area, fractions, graphs, and so much more.
In Science, we will learn about the Earth’s spheres; the atmosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere. We also learn how to conduct investigations and experiments. Other topics will include how light and sound travel, plant and animal structures and functions, and how plants and animals are interdependent.
You will learn about Arizona’s history in Social Studies and all about the United States government and what it means to be a global citizen.
During Reading, we will continue building on our syllable types and learning to read longer/harder words. We get to read some AWESOME stories while gaining all the necessary skills to be a strong reader. Such as point of view, text features, figurative language, and text structure. With many more!!! As for writing, well, we will honestly write in EVERY subject so you will have a lot of practice. We will write three different types of writing pieces. We write narratives, opinions, and informative reports. We will even learn how to write in cursive!
The third-grade team can’t wait to share this learning journey with you.

Mrs. Susan Peters
Welcome to Third Grade! I'm Susan Peters, and I'm thrilled to be back with the third-grade team at Greenbrier! As a Deer Valley schools graduate myself, I understand the importance of a strong educational foundation. I earned my degree from Arizona State University and gained valuable experience working with children at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix before becoming a teacher. I've taught several grade levels, but third grade holds a special place in my heart. I believe in open communication with parents and am committed to working together to support your child's success. I have three grown children and two dogs, so I understand the joys and challenges of parenthood! I'm excited to partner with you and create a wonderful third-grade experience for your child.
