Meet the Teachers
Miss Rachel Borney
Welcome! My name is Rachel Borney, but students, please call me Miss B. I am so excited to be back for another year at Greenbrier!
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i, but the desert has become my home - yes, I do enjoy the dry heat. I've been in Arizona for 6+ years, using 4 of those to receive my degree from ASU. Go Sun Devils! As well as a teacher, I am a lifelong learner. I plan to go back to school to get my Master's degree, to further my craft and give your students the very best education. I have experience in first, fourth, and fifth grade classrooms, and I am excited to be back in my fourth grade classroom this year. I strive to create a safe and calm learning environment, and I look forward to providing my students with a well-rounded, diverse, and meaningful education.
In my free time I enjoy exploring the incredible scenery and restaurants that Arizona has to offer with my sweet puppy, Pax, my partner, Liam, and our newest furry addition (thank you Mrs. Beermann!) Atlas - a purebred Siamese Cat. I am a hiker, a camper, and a traveler, so when I'm not teaching or grading papers, I am enjoying the beautiful desert.
Mrs. Frances Beermann
Hello everyone, my name is Frances Beermann, and I'm so excited to be your child's 4th-grade
teacher this year! My family and I have been Arizonans since 2005, and while we've lived in
many different states, Arizona is the most stunning. The beauty of the desert landscape is just
breathtaking and the sunsets are second to none. When I'm not in the classroom, you can
usually find my husband and me hiking, exploring our state, or cheering on our favorite soccer
teams. We have two grown children and a few furry, feline family members as well!
My passion is education, and I'm thrilled to be working with your children. I earned my degree in
Secondary Social Studies Education from the University of Wyoming and then went on to get
my master's in Special Education and Elementary Education from Arizona State University in
2008. I've been at Greenbrier since the fall of 2008. For the first ten years, I worked in Student
Support Services, primarily with 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Since 2018, I've been happily
teaching 4th grade, and I'm looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and growth with your
children.
I'm a firm believer in lifelong learning, and I try to instill that love of learning in my students. Over
the summers, I enjoy teaching myself new skills, like knitting and crocheting. I also love to curl
up with a good book or listen to audiobooks – mysteries and travel stories are my favorites! I'm
looking forward to partnering with you this year to make your child's 4th-grade experience a
positive and enriching one. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. I'm
excited to get to know each of you and your children!
